Office 2013, the latest installment in Microsoft’s productivity suite, promises to extend the familiar office look and feel with new and enhanced capabilities.
- A completely revised interface based on the new Windows-8-Style UI (or metro). This updated and streamlined interface combines the best of both the ribbon-style interface, which is hidden until you require it, and the stylish look of the new Windows 8 interface.
- Portable Office experience: Office 2013 synchronises your documents, settings, and, most interestingly, your applications with the cloud. Microsoft leads us to believe that moving from one device to another will provide a seamless experience with complete portability between devices and platforms.
- Online Office Installation: Microsoft will now offer the majority of users the ability to install Office 2013 directly from the Internet, doing away with the unnecessary hassle of DVD-based installation media and fully-packaged product purchases.
- On-Demand Office installation: Office 2013 also makes available a ‘streamed’ version of the product which can be used on PC’s without leaving an installation behind when you are done. If you’re working on a PC at a friend or relative’s place this can provide you with access to the functionality you need without having to install or reconfigure their existing software!
- Advanced sharing options allow you to grant access to files and folders to specific people online. New collaboration enhancements allow users to join shared meeting spaces and work collaboratively on documents. Even users without Office installed can participate!
